“No Pressure? No Problem!”
My Methodology
When conditions allow, I like to perform what I call a sympathetic restoration. I work to restore the piano so that it can sound its best and work like new, while leaving the original patina and character when possible. This results in an instrument that performs as intended when it was new but retains the antique character of the instrument.
Antique upright player pianos from the 1910s and 20s make up the vast majority of projects that come through the shop. Restorations generally include restringing the piano, along with soundboard repairs as needed, replacing worn felts in the piano action and keyboard, and a complete overhaul of the player system.
